The Origins of the Christian faith –
God revealing Himself through Jesus
Origins Community –
Jesus revealing Himself through you
Communities are best recognized by features that are unique or prominent within them. Whether you’re experiencing a distinct language, food, festival, set of holidays, art form or philosophy, it’s easy to identify when you are in a community and know how to participate in one.
At Origins, we want to be recognized by the way our faith affects those around us – the way it prods us to be more personally involved and actively engaged in addressing the needs of our communities.
Here’s a look at common interests, attitudes and goals among Origins’ folk.
We’re interested in the people right in front of us
Why this matters
Nowadays, it’s easy to miss relationship opportunities as we hurry from one place to the next. Our work and passions can easily tempt us to sacrifice the meaningful for the productive. Relationships are the most meaningful activity we can participate in – we choose to put a premium on the people in our lives.

How this distinction molds the way Origins operates
We encourage people to experience faith through personal relationships. While we have a handful of large worship gatherings a year, we prefer to participate in faith through more personal ways. Instead of showing up to a large corporate weekly gathering as part of your spiritual rhythm, we encourage you to dedicate time each week to practice your faith by serving people in your community, taking time to listen and pray with friends and family about the needs in their lives, or inviting people to meet and talk with you about spiritually.

We have exploring attitudes that drive us to learn how to personally serve our communities
Why this matters
When we become aware of the needs of those around us, we may not immediately realize the ways we can help and we may not think we’re in much of a position to help. The best solutions to the needs of your community will come from those within your community, not organizations outside of them – we choose to start with ourselves as solutions to our community’s needs.

How this distinction molds the way Origins operates
Origins prefers to facilitate conversations, raise awareness and support the grass-roots activities of those personally involved in changing their communities instead of introducing or developing programs that people can participate in. We want to encourage you to be an answer instead of provide you with one.

We share a common goal – to be actively engaged in the needs of our communities
Why this matters
Selflessness is an uncommon virtue – it’s never easy to consider someone else’s needs before your own or view them on par with your own. It’s one thing to have awareness of the needs in your community, it’s a better thing to do something about it– we choose to think of others as important as ourselves and work toward the betterment of those around us.
